Searchers Go Local

New service promises to match local business with local searchers.

Portland, OR, (PRWEB) October 5, 2006 -- The wraps are being kept on tightly at a site promising to offer to match local businesses with local searchers. To date LocalSitesFor.com, which plans to open its doors in late October, is only allowing interested parties a glimpse of its home page and the opportunity to sign up for further notification.

Why all the secrecy, "Frankly not a single one of the current local search services have gotten it right." Said Kelly Hodsdon, the creator of LocalSitesFor.com. He went on to say, "It's mind boggling, but they consistently misunderstand the nature of online search behavior. It may be that they attempted to carry their pre-Internet paradigms in to the online world, and those paradigms don't play out well where there are literally billions of pages to compete with."

The search engine industry has had research available since the mid 1990's pointing to the need to get local, but most have only done so recently and with mixed results. Some of them are still in beta, but even those which are already out of testing mode are not as well understood by those searching for goods and services in their local area as they might be.

A handful of services, such as Citysearch.com, have been trying to provide local search services for the past 12 years. Many of these services have failed at getting searchers to return consistently to their sites when the need arrives for local information.
Even the name brand phone books have not been able to woo their offline customers to their online services.

According to Hodsdon, "At LocalSitesFor.com we don't intend to sit on our laurels expecting to get by on name recognition alone. When businesses sign up with us they're going to be getting a company that is truly interested in getting their goods and services out in front of searchers." He finished by saying, "We're going to be offering local businesses a truly unique service with an extreme amount of value for their money."

LocalSitesFor.com will open with the goal of connecting local businesses with local searchers later this month. Until then interested parties can sign up for notification by going to http://www.localsitesfor.com and http://www.localsitesfor.org
